David Crook, Lead Pastor
(david@fbcnevada.org)

David was born December 6, 1968, in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas and raised in rural Carbondale, Kansas. He first responded to Christ when he was six years old and at 12 understood his need for a savior from sin and gave his life to Christ. He was baptized the following summer. He began to get deeply involved in church, Sunday School and youth group whenever the doors were open to find out more about his Savior and be with God’s loving people. He began to grow spiritually and be burdened for his friends. The first person he knowingly led to Christ was his cousin. At 18 years old, he committed his life to Christ to serve Him full time in whatever capacity He chose. He graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School in 1987, The University of Kansas in 1991, and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2014.

He is blessed to have married Lisa L. Bowers on May 27, 1989, and is a better man and pastor with her in his life. They have been blessed with the four most amazing children God ever gave any family. Michelle (Micki) Elizabeth was born May 9, 1991, who teaches high school math at Highland Park High School in Topeka, Kansas. Faith Michal was born March 4, 1993, and is attending Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. She has a heart for supporting mission work. She recently married H'Enrie Williams, who is a Worship Pastor at Westside Baptist Church in Waynesville, Missouri. Michael David Earl was born February 28, 1995, and is studying trumpet at Washburn University in Topeka. He has a precious heart for God and people, wanting to be “the best preacher the world has ever seen.” Danielle (Dani) Sarine was born April 15, 1997, she married Austin Reser, last March. He attends Midwestern Baptist College, studying to be a Christian counsellor while she is studying to be a vet tech at Maplewood in Kansas City. These are David's favorite people in the world and he is truly blessed to know and love them. They are Christ’s and He is theirs. David believes they will impact this world more than he ever will.

David has been privileged to serve some wonderful churches in his 24 years of ministry. He was the Director of Evangelism at First Christian Church of Charleston, Illinois, where he learned some wonderful ministry lessons and fell in love with working with teenagers. He was Youth Pastor at West Haven Baptist Church in Tonganoxie, Kansas where he briefly began his seminary studies.  He then took his youth ministry work to First Baptist Church of Topeka. God then called him to pastor Macksville Christian Church in Macksville, Kansas, before returning home to be Associate Pastor at Grace Community Church in Overbrook.

David is a passionate leader who loves to spread the beauty of life and love in Jesus Christ. He believes that his ministry experience has prepared him for passionately leading a church team to accomplish great things in Christ's Kingdom.

Jeanette Hawkins, Children's Pastor
(jeanette@fbcnevada.org)

Jeanette loves preparing children for a lifetime of serving and worshipping God.  She enjoys equipping and empowering parents to be the spiritual leaders of their homes.  Her position includes training, supporting and serving volunteers who have been gifted to serve in children's minsitries.  She loves the way God has assembled our Children's Ministry team, each with different gifts, passions and talents, yet all working together.  Her various ministries to children include a weekday preschool, children's worship, Sunday School, Kid's KORE, Parent/Child Class and Dedications, and Parent/Child Faith Celebrations.

Jeanette's favorite pastime is rooting for her kids in show choir, marching band, and football.  She finds art very therapeutic and relaxing, so whenever she has a free moment, she enjoys painting faces, murals, and craft projects.  She does not like to clean.  At all.
